The Roven Museum of Local Lore named after Nikolai Mikhailovich Pyakhin was opened on November 14, 1999. It is located in an old one-story building from 1900 on the banks of the Volga. The museum's exhibition occupies nine halls. Today, this museum serves as a cultural and historical center that preserves and transmits the invaluable heritage of ancestors, maintaining a connection between generations, love for the homeland, and pride in the history of the native land.

The museum's collections hold 7,108 exhibits related to the history of the Roven district. In September 2015, the Watermelon Museum opened in the museum, covering an area of 31 sq. m, and in September 2018, the Pumpkin Museum. Nearby, a boulder with a metal plaque commemorates the founding of Rovno, indicating the date of the village's establishment, July 15, 1767.

The total area of the building is 251 sq. m, of which 176 sq. m is allocated for exhibitions located in nine halls. 8 sq. m is designated for storage of collections. The museum employs 5 people, including 3 core staff and 2 service staff. The director is Svetlana Stanislavovna Akhmetvalieva.

The museum features the following exhibitions: "From the History of the First Settlers," "Path to the Stars," "How Our Ancestors Lived," "Memory is Stronger than Time," "Hot Ship," "Grandmother's Samovar," "History of Russian Money," and "Time Goes On."

The Roven Center for German Culture operates on the museum's premises, studying the contributions of notable individuals of German nationality to the development of the Saratov region.

Nikolai Mikhailovich Pyakhin, a Roven poet and writer, was the director of a school for over thirty years. His work is characterized by lyrical confessionalism and a high spiritual sense. Pyakhin's poetry resonates with the residents of the Roven district, where they recognize the familiar shores of the Volga and kind people.

After retiring in 1998, Pyakhin devoted himself to creating the local lore museum. He called it his "swan song," admitting that he did not expect to engage in museum work in his old age. Together with like-minded individuals, he began to collect exhibits. On December 11, 2003, Nikolai Mikhailovich passed away, and in 2005, the museum was named after him.

Today, the museum is an important center of cultural life in the Roven district. Each exhibit is a part of the history and pride of the district. The main focus of the museum's work is the study of the history of the Roven district, the Republic of German Volga, and everything related to the life of villages, their culture, and traditions. The museum actively collaborates with the K. Fedin Museum and the regional museum of local lore.
