In August 2007, a ceremonial opening of a monument dedicated to the water supply took place in Rostov-on-Don. The monument, made of bronze, stands 2.2 meters tall and depicts a woman in 19th-century urban attire, drawing water from a water supply column. According to sculptor Sergey Oleshny, the choice of such a symbol is not accidental: at that time, women were responsible for providing their families with drinking water, and the advent of the water supply significantly eased their daily burdens.

The monument was created in honor of the first water supply launched in the city in 1865. It quickly won the affection of both locals and visitors. The opening of the monument was held in a vibrant show format, featuring an actor portraying the famous head of Rostov-on-Don, Andrey Baikov. It was under his leadership that the city became one of the most developed in Russia and acquired its own water supply.
