Fedor Dmitrievich Rezanov, a hereditary nobleman, was born in 1768 and died in 1838. According to the formulary lists for 1825 and 1829, he began his service in the Life Guards Preobrazhensky Regiment as a corporal on October 19, 1775, when he was only 7 years old. He quickly advanced through the non-commissioned officer ranks and in 1784, at the age of 16, he retired with the rank of captain from the army.

Two years later, Rezanov became a collegiate assessor in the Vologda Criminal Chamber, where he held the position of a judge. In 1791, he was appointed chairman of the Vologda Upper Court, and in 1796 he became chairman of the Zemsky Upper Court. After the abolition of this court, he remained with the Heraldry.

In 1797, Rezanov received the rank of court counselor and retired with the rank of collegiate counselor on July 21, 1800. Fedor Dmitrievich's rapid career advancement was likely due to the support of his uncle, Peter Fedorovich Mezenzev, who was the governor of the Vologda Province from 1784 to 1792. Subsequently, Rezanov held elective positions: in 1802 he was elected judge of the Joint Court, in 1808 he became the provincial leader of the nobility for three years, and in 1824 he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir 4th class for his years of service.
