The first secondary educational institution in Chelyabinsk was built in 1904 under the guidance of contractor and city mayor Alexander Frantsevich Beivel. The three-story red brick building cost 102,475 rubles and 45 kopecks and became an example of the "red-brick" style in the Southern Urals. At that time, this building of the real school was one of the largest in Chelyabinsk, where most buildings did not exceed two stories. The school also had an extensive courtyard area.
