Razrytovsky Holy Trinity Protection Monastery (lost)

Фото 1
The women's community in Razrytoye was founded in 1900 by Alexandra Vasilyevna Golitsyna, the widow of Vice Admiral and Director of the Inspectorate Department of the Ministry of the Navy M.P. Golitsyn. Alexandra Vasilyevna, born Gudovich, was the daughter of an estate owner. By the decision of the Synod from April 21-28, 1904, the community was transformed into a monastery. By 1907, it housed 80 residents. The monastery also had a school-orphanage for orphaned girls and a charitable institution. Before the revolution, the priest at the monastery was Dmitry Krasnogorsky, who, according to some sources, was appointed with the blessing of John of Kronstadt.

In December 1917, an inventory of the monastery's property was compiled, and a significant portion of its land was transferred to the Razrytov Agricultural School. The liquidation of the monastery as a 'counter-revolutionary nest for four districts of the Gomel province' was formalized by a resolution of the presidium of the Mglin district executive committee on June 24, 1921. Only an economic building made of red brick and a reconstructed house on the old foundation have survived from the monastery's structures.
