Return after a century

On August 26, 2015, Prince Dmitry Romanovich, along with his wife, Princess Feodora Alexeyevna, visited the Dyulber Palace during an official visit to the Republic of Crimea. This visit held special significance.

The Dyulber Palace was built from 1895 to 1897 by the renowned architect Nikolai Krasnov on the orders of Grand Duke Peter Nikolaevich. The building is designed in the Moorish style based on sketches created by the Grand Duke during his travels in the Middle East and Maghreb.

Part of his childhood was spent here by the only son of Grand Duke Peter Nikolaevich, Prince Roman Petrovich, who fondly remembered Dyulber in his memoirs "At the Court of the Last Tsar." Leaving Russia on the British warship "Marlborough" and watching the disappearing shore, Prince Roman Petrovich saw the walls of Dyulber for the last time, vividly red in the sun. In exile, he often told his sons, Nikolai and Dmitry Romanovich, about Dyulber, calling it not a palace, but a "home."

Today, Dyulber functions as a sanatorium. Only the grandson of Grand Duke Peter Nikolaevich, Prince Dmitry Romanovich, was able to visit this important family place.

Prince Dmitry Romanovich and Princess Feodora Alexeyevna were warmly welcomed by the sanatorium administration. The princess was presented with a bouquet of white roses, and tea was organized for them in the Arabic hall of the palace.

In the guestbook, Princess Feodora Alexeyevna wrote: "It is impossible to describe being here, in Dyulber, in paradise on earth, created and described in the books by my husband's father and his grandfather. I am very grateful to Dmitry for bringing me here, even if only for a short time."

At the main entrance, they were warmly greeted by the guests of the sanatorium. Prince Dmitry Romanovich gave several interviews to journalists, in which he noted: "My father, while in exile, always remembered Dyulber. For me, it is home, a living history of our family."

Shortly before his death, in one of his last interviews, recalling the trip to Crimea and the visit to Dyulber, Dmitry Romanovich confessed: "For me, it was phenomenal!"
