The Leningrad District Historical and Local Lore Museum was founded in December 1974. The museum building, constructed in 1865, is a monument of cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia. In 1982, the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR awarded the museum the honorary title of "People's Museum."

The museum's activities have been repeatedly recognized with Honorary Certificates and Diplomas from the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR, as well as by the administration of the Leningrad District.

The museum is a rich repository of monuments of material and spiritual culture. Its collection includes about 7,000 exhibits, including items of decorative and applied art, archaeological finds, and materials on the nature, history, and ethnography of Kuban.

Every year, more than 9,000 residents and guests of the district visit the museum. Guided tours of the halls and walking tours of the historical center of the Leningradskaya stanitsa are organized for them.

One of the main areas of the museum's work is the patriotic education of youth. Here, lessons of courage are held, and meetings of schoolchildren and youth with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, home front workers, and notable residents of the Leningrad District take place.

The museum participates annually in the International event "Museum Night." Exhibitions from the collections of other museums and private collections are organized for visitors.
