The Children's Museum in Neftyegorsk, opened on December 7, 1999, in honor of the centenary of the Children's Museum Movement, is part of the municipal institution "Culture" of the Neftyegorsk district. It is located in a building that previously housed a furniture store. The museum was created with the participation of Maria Alexeyevna Shigaeva, head of the district's culture department, Alla Alexeyevna Izhederova, the first director of the museum, and sponsor Alexander Stanislavovich Malinovsky, a writer and bibliographer of icon painter G. N. Zhuravlyov from the village of Utyovka.

The museum serves as a kind of family club where children and adults participate in educational and creative projects, create exhibitions, share experiences, and preserve traditions.

In 2013, the museum building was renovated. The main collection of the museum contains 1,822 items, while the scientific auxiliary collection has 872. The museum's collections include coins, commemorative medals, postcards, and items of folk life.

The museum has a large hall divided into exhibition zones. The main exhibition is the labyrinth "Journey into the Depths of the Earth," which tells about the process of oil formation and how cities arise in oil extraction areas. Visitors learn about the construction of Neftyegorsk and its oil workers and builders.

There is also an exhibition dedicated to the famous icon painter G. N. Zhuravlyov, who, despite the absence of arms and legs, glorified his native village of Utyovka. His works are known both in Russia and beyond. The icon "Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker" is displayed in the Hermitage.
