Built in 1535-1538, the Bird Tower is part of the Kitai-Gorod Wall. It is a semicircular tower made of red brick without a roof. In the 1870s, the section of the wall between the Bird and Trinity Towers was demolished, and in its place, the Tretyakov Gates in Russian style were constructed next to the Bird Tower. During the Soviet era, the tower, along with the part of the wall up to the Theater Square, was not demolished as it did not interfere with the reconstruction of the streets of Moscow.
