In Russia, there are many unique places where one can immerse themselves in the mysteries of the past and touch archaeological relics. One such place is the vicinity of the Ural village of Palkino. Every year, this area attracts thousands of seekers, from professional archaeologists to adventure enthusiasts. The village appeared even before the founding of Yekaterinburg and was named after Palkin, the leader of a band of robbers who raided trade caravans in the 16th century.

In the first half of the 19th century, it became known that the history of settlements in this area dates back to more ancient times. In 1827, archaeological artifacts were first discovered here, and it soon became clear that there was an ancient fortified settlement. Locals claim that at least two ancient pagan shrines have been found. From the first archaeological expedition of the 19th century to the present day, items of antiquity have been found in the vicinity, including ancient tools and burial sites. It is known that in 1888, the writer Mamin-Sibiryak visited here with an archaeological expedition, struck by the beauty of these places. In the early 20th century, the outstanding Russian photographer and inventor of the first color photographs, Prokudin-Gorsky, came to Palkino.

Today, the village has about 650 residents and continues to attract people's attention. Visitors come both for archaeological excavations and to enjoy the natural beauty that can amaze anyone. Among the ancient archaeological monuments, one can see the Yevgenie-Maximilian mines discovered in the 19th century and much more.
