Pokrovsky Monastery in Lukino

Pokrovsky Monastery is a women's monastery belonging to the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. It is located in the village of Lukino, situated in the Bogorodsky District of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

This is the first monastery founded in the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese after 1917.

In 1993, the revival of the Pokrovsky Church began in the village of Lukino, which was built in 1866 and closed in the 1930s.

In 2000, a women's monastic community was established here.

In 2006, the Pokrovsky Church was consecrated with a great ceremony, and on December 26 of the same year, by the decision of the Holy Synod, the community was transformed into a monastery. The blessing from Archbishop Georgy was received on January 8, 2007, on the day of the Assembly of the Most Holy Theotokos.

On June 26, 2007, Priest Sergey Mokhov was appointed the senior priest of the monastery.

On June 4-5, 2009, a procession with the Oranskaya Icon of the Mother of God passed through the monastery.

On October 14, 2009, on the feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, Archbishop Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas conducted the Divine Liturgy in the main church of the Pokrovsky Women's Monastery.

As of 2009, this is the only monastery in the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese founded in modern times.
