Until the mid-19th century, the monastery housed a small tent-shaped bell tower of the Pokrovsky Church, built simultaneously with it. By the 1840s, it had deteriorated significantly, and in 1848 it was dismantled. This was part of a plan for a large-scale reconstruction of the monastery, which began to be implemented later when the construction of the cathedral in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Tenderness" started. The new bell tower became the final stage of this plan and was completed in the 1870s. Its five-tiered structure, standing sixty meters tall and executed in an eclectic style characteristic of that time, established the "vertical" for the entire architectural ensemble of the monastery. With the end of the era of religious persecution, bells returned to the bell tower. The first of them, weighing 1360 kilograms, was raised on the eve of the celebration of the memory of St. Avraamy in 1992. In October 1993, the bell tower was crowned with a cross, and by Easter 1994, the belfry was supplemented with nine more bells.
