The museum is located in the former mansion of a wealthy German Mennonite, Yakov Viller, built in 1913-1914. Its collections hold unique exhibits, such as a gift wreath made from the hair of the Greve family, created in 1886, and a physarmonica from 1876, brought from Chicago. The museum's exhibition is dedicated to the culture and everyday life of the peoples of the Krasnogvardeisky District of the Orenburg Region, including German Mennonites, Russians, and Bashkirs. The museum also highlights the natural heritage of the Orenburg region, the years of collectivization, and wartime.
