Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin was born on October 24, 1878, in the Saratov province. His father, Sergey, was a shoemaker.

Petrov-Vodkin received his artistic education thanks to the support of the merchants from Khvalynsk, who helped him financially. In 1905, he graduated from the Moscow School of Art.

It is important to note that his mentor was the great Russian artist Serov. Petrov-Vodkin traveled extensively, visiting Western Europe, the Mediterranean, and even North Africa.

His travels around the world had a significant impact on his creativity. Studying the works of European masters helped Petrov-Vodkin to develop his unique style.

Kuzma Sergeyevich developed a style of spherical perspective, which allowed him to convey the feeling of 'Earth as a planet' from various angles.

After the revolution, Petrov-Vodkin worked in theater, tried his hand at literature, writing stories and essays. He also engaged in scientific activities, writing articles about art and teaching. As a prominent figure in the arts, he held leadership positions in art institutes.

The famous artist passed away in Saint Petersburg in February 1939.
