The founder of the Russian Olympic movement was Vladimir Nikolaevich Voeykov. He was also the last commandant of the Winter Palace, a close associate of Nicholas II, and the head of his security. However, his fame was not limited to these roles.

Since the establishment of the Russian Olympic Committee, Voeykov actively engaged in its activities. It was thanks to him that the first Olympic team of the Russian Empire was formed. At the Stockholm Olympics in 1912, the Russian delegation consisted of 178 people. Our athletes participated in almost all sports, but were particularly successful in shooting.

The shooters had a tough time, as the competitions took place in rainy weather. Swedish shooters were provided with a protective canopy, while athletes from other countries, including the Russians, were not offered such a canopy. Nevertheless, this did not hinder our shooters.

The "Silver Quartet" consisted of Captain Amos Kash, Ensign Pavel Voyloshnikov, Lieutenants Nikolai Melnitsky and Georgy Panteleimonov, all from the guard units. They performed excellently in the "duel shooting" event, which involved rapid shooting from a single-shot pistol at a target that appeared, scoring 1091 points. The Swedes scored 1145 points.

Harry Blau took third place in shooting at clay pigeons, scoring 91 points out of 100 and trailing the champion by 5 points. In the final round, he achieved the best result, hitting 49 out of 50. The bronze medal in sailing in the "10 m" class was won by the crew of the yacht "Galli II." Additionally, our athletes excelled in rowing.

These Olympic Games were the first and last in which the Russian Empire participated.
