History Park of the Chusovaya River in Chusovoy

Фото 1
The History Park of the Chusovaya River was created in the autumn of 1981 near the city of Chusovoy in the Perm region. It is located in a picturesque natural area surrounded by the Ural Mountains. A small river, Arkhipovka, separates the park from the Olympic reserve sports school 'Ogonёk'. The school focuses on winter sports such as luge, skiing, and freestyle. The founder and inspirer of the park was Leonard Dmitrievich Postnikov, who was its main custodian until his death. He also founded the 'Ogonёk' sports school in 1954 and led it until 1995. The park is now headed by his daughter, Olga Leonardovna Postnikova.

Initially, Leonard Postnikov did not have a clear concept for creating the park; everything happened spontaneously. During hikes around the Chusovoy district, he found wooden structures in good condition in abandoned villages, many of which were built in the mid-19th century. The structures were either burned in stoves or destroyed over time. Postnikov decided to gather a team of enthusiasts to preserve these buildings. They cleared the area near the 'Ogonёk' school and began transporting the wooden structures there. In 1981, a chapel from the village of Makhnutin was installed at the new site, where the park's first exhibition, 'Museum of the History of Yermak's Campaign', opened. Later, a forge, a village shop, a fire station, and two peasant houses from the villages of Mulkovo and Zarechka, a refectory, and a church from the village of Makhnutino were brought in. Thus, a small 19th-century village grew up next to the school. The park featured exhibitions: 'Peasant House', 'Village Shop', 'Village Forge', part of the house from the village of Zarechka became the 'Pottery Workshop', and another, the museum of wooden toys 'Balagan'. All the museums are filled with authentic antiques found during expeditions.

Leonard Postnikov decided to expand the time frame of the history presented in the park, and the park's exhibition became more diverse. A literary section was opened, dedicated to writers associated with the Chusovaya land, such as Viktor Astafyev, Valentin Kurbatov, Alexander Grin, and others. In 2003, the Holy George Church was built, followed by the Holy Nicholas Chapel in memory of soldiers from Chusovoy who died in Chechnya. Along the main street of the park, memorial signs have been installed for people and events that have entered the history of Chusovoy, such as monuments to A. Grin, V. Kamensky, and others.

The park initially served as a source of spiritual growth for athletes from 'Ogonёk', but over time its popularity grew, and now it receives more than 5,000 guests a year. The main activity of the park is guided tours, which are conducted by prior arrangement. Its unique location in a natural area, availability of picnic spots, and distance from the city make the park an excellent place for family recreation year-round.

The museum's exhibitions include 'The History of Yermak's Campaign'. The Cossack detachment led by Yermak set out from the Lower Chusovoy towns, located 50 km from Chusovoy. The main exhibition of the museum features paintings by Pavel Shardakov, created in the park in the 1980s. Each painting reflects the stages of Yermak's campaign. The exhibition is being supplemented: it includes a model of the Lower Chusovoy towns, a sculpture of Yermak, and models of weapons used in battles.

The peasant house from the village of Mulkovo represents a typical wooden structure of the 19th century. Inside are authentic household items. The forge from Antabary from the late 19th century contains genuine blacksmithing objects. The village shop from the late 19th century offers a variety of goods. Balagan is a toy theater-museum showcasing wooden and clay products. The fire station from Antabary is unique for its bell tower. The Holy George Church, built in 2003, features an iconostasis painted by Valery Chaplygin. The Holy Nicholas Chapel, built in 2008, is dedicated to the memory of soldiers from Chusovoy. Two mills from Makhnutino remind us of how people used the forces of nature for their needs.
