The Parangin Local History Museum was opened on January 1, 1991, by the Ministry of Culture of the Mari El Republic as a branch of the T.E. Evseev Republican Scientific Local History Museum. Alfiya Mukhametovna Samigullina was appointed as the director.

In 1997, the museum came under the jurisdiction of the Culture Department of the Parangin Municipal District Administration. Since 1998, the museum building, located in the village of Parangin at Tukaevskaya Street, 55, has been in an emergency state due to deterioration and the collapse of ceiling structures.

In recent years, interest in museums has significantly increased. The museum, as a multifunctional institution of social information, plays an important role in preserving and disseminating cultural, historical, and natural science values through its exhibits.

In 2008, the district assembly of deputies decided to resume the museum's operations, and a museum-exhibition center was opened. Employees of the Culture, Physical Culture, and Sports Department cleared the old building of debris and conducted an inventory of the exhibits. It was found that some items were damaged due to the ceiling collapse and the emergency state of the building, and they are beyond restoration.
