On December 4, 2015, a solemn rally was held in Krasnodar to inaugurate a memorial for border guards. The monument is located in the Border Guards Park on Machugi Street in the Karasun District.

The monument is a 15-meter tall obelisk topped with a double-headed eagle. Surrounding it are five three-meter figures depicting Ilya Muromets, a soldier from Suvorov's army, a sailor, a Cossack, and a modern border guard. These images symbolize the defenders of our state's borders throughout different historical periods.

The well-known Krasnodar sculptor Vladimir Zolotukhin worked on the creation of the monument. The monument was made and installed with the funds of benefactors.

Along with the installation of the monument, the surrounding area was improved: it was paved with tiles and garden benches were installed.
