The monument to the defenders of Lucavsala Island, also known as Luzaus Island, is located in Riga in honor of 400 Russian grenadiers from the guard detachment of Prince Repnin's army corps. These soldiers heroically perished in July 1701 during one of the battles of the Baltic campaign of the Great Northern War.

In 1887, Riga remembered the tragic death of the Russian warriors when the Governor of Livonia, Lieutenant General M. A. Zinoviev, drew attention to a small burial mound on the island. On the ruins of an old windmill, a plaque was found with an inscription in German: "In memory of the 400 Russians who fell here on July 10, 1701." The Riga Society of Retired Military Officials organized the first memorial service in memory of the defenders of Lucavsala on July 10, 1887, and announced a collection of donations for the construction of the monument. Four years later, the monument was unveiled and consecrated by the Bishop of Riga and Livonia, Arseny (Bryantsev), with the participation of five priests.
