The monument to Prince Vladimir has become a symbol of Belgorod. From the height of the monument, the prince watches over the city, and nearby is an observation deck that offers a view of the center and northern part of Belgorod.

This monument stands out not only for its location. It is the largest monument to Prince Vladimir in the world. Created by sculptor Vyacheslav Klykov, who also worked on the bell tower at Prokhorovka Field, and architect Vitaly Pertsev, the monument reaches a height of 22.5 meters. Of these, 7.5 meters are occupied by the sculpture of the prince, while the remaining 15 meters are the pedestal. Its creation required one and a half tons of copper.

Many residents of Belgorod are interested in how Prince Vladimir is connected to their city. There is an opinion that Vladimir the Red Sun founded Belgorod. This hypothesis was proposed by local historian Yuri Shmelov. In 1995, he published a book with the support of the Belgorod Regional Historical and Genealogical Society, discussing the founding of the city. According to his research, Belgorod was founded in 993, although it is officially believed that the city appeared in 1596 with the construction of a fortress on the White Mountain.

Despite this, Prince Vladimir remains the unofficial founder of Belgorod, and in his honor, a monument was opened in 1998.

The monument consists of three tiers, each with its own theme. The lower tier depicts scenes dedicated to the courage of the defenders of the Fatherland, including the holy warriors George the Victorious, Demetrius of Thessalonica, Alexander Nevsky, Dmitry Donskoy, as well as the apostles Peter and Paul, on the day of whose memory the Prokhorovka tank battle took place.

The second tier features the cross "Flourishing Tree," symbolizing the Baptism of Rus, as well as the heavenly patron of Belgorod, Saint Joasaph.

On the third tier stands Prince Vladimir himself. He is depicted in a laurel wreath, holding a cross high above his head in his right hand.
