In 1885, a monument was erected in Kyshtym with funds raised by local craftsmen and ordinary residents in honor of the abolition of serfdom. It was made of gray Ural marble and was located in the central square at the beginning of the street. The monument featured a tall column topped with a crown and a two-tiered pedestal with four imperial eagles, making it noticeable from afar.

In 1918, the monument was partially destroyed: the stele with the crown and the imperial eagles were demolished, and the slabs were knocked down. A plaster figure of the leader of the proletariat, V. I. Lenin, was placed on the remaining pedestal. The monument remained in this form until the early 1970s.
