The memorial complex and Eternal Flame in Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin were opened in 1964, and in 1970 a T-34 tank was installed nearby. This tank was produced at one of the Gorky defense factories during the Great Patriotic War.
The armored vehicle, placed on a pedestal, symbolizes the significant labor contribution of the residents of Gorky to the victory of the Soviet Union over the German aggressors. It was in Krasnoye Sormovo that the famous T-34s were among the first to be produced in the USSR, gaining worldwide fame.
The tank located in the Kremlin was built in the last months of the war and participated in the liberation of Vienna, the capital of Austria.
