The sculpture of Saints Peter and Fevronia of Murom was installed in Kaluga on July 6, 2012, on Family, Love, and Fidelity Day, in the courtyard of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin. This monument symbolizes love, reconciliation, and harmony in the family, as Peter and Fevronia are considered the patrons of family happiness. The solemn opening of the monument took place in the square near the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos.

Out of 13 proposed sculpture options created by 12 participants from Kaluga, Obninsk, Moscow, and St. Petersburg, the residents of Kaluga and members of a specially created working group chose this project as early as March. The winner of the competition was the work of Kaluga sculptor Konstantin Chernyavsky and architect Olga Kravchenko.

The funding for the installation of the monument in Kaluga was provided through a charity marathon organized by the "Revival" foundation.
