Saint Ioasaph was a significant figure in the Russian Orthodox Church, serving as the Bishop of Belgorod and Oboyansk in the 18th century. In 1911, the Holy Synod canonized him. The shrines associated with his name, the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos "Sign" and the relics of the saint himself, are especially venerated in the Belgorod and Starooskol dioceses.

In Belgorod Oblast, two churches remain where Saint Ioasaph conducted services. Both are located in Belgorod: the Assumption-Nikolai Cathedral and the Smolensk Cathedral.

On Holy Trinity Boulevard, in front of the restored Marfo-Mariinsky Convent for Women, a monument to Saint Ioasaph was erected. This took place on June 2, 2004, near the sites where the Trinity Cathedral and the episcopal residence once stood, where he lived and served. Initially, the monument was located on Litvinov Street in front of the Belgorod Theological Seminary, which opened in 2001.

The monument is made of bronze and is tinted. Its authors are sculptor A. A. Shishkov and architect V. V. Pertsev. Fresh flowers are always laid at the base of the monument.
