The monument to the famous Cossack rebel Stepan Razin was unveiled on June 5, 1972, in Rostov-on-Don. The monumental composition consists of seven sculptures, including figures of Stepan Razin, a Persian princess, and five of his loyal companions standing on a boat. All sculptures were made of concrete at a local factory, and the authors were artist Kotenko and architect Loban. Although Razin himself never visited Rostov, many places related to his legendary persona remain in the Don region.
