Monument to Sholokhov in Rostov-on-Don

Фото 1
In May 2000, a monument to the famous writer Mikhail Sholokhov was unveiled on the embankment in Rostov-on-Don, timed to coincide with his 95th anniversary. The monument is made of copper, and its author is sculptor Nikolai Vasilyevich Mozaev. The three-meter bronze figure of the writer is set on a one-meter concrete pedestal and depicts him in full height.

The installation of the Sholokhov monument in Rostov-on-Don is not accidental, as he is one of the most renowned writers of the Don region. Today, there is much discussion about the authorship of "And Quiet Flows the Don," and many researchers lean towards the opinion that its author could have been the forgotten but talented Cossack writer Fyodor Kryukov. Nevertheless, Sholokhov's name continues to remain well-known both in the Don region and throughout Russia.
