The idea of installing the monument belonged to the former head of the Ust-Kamchatsky district, Alexander Tikhomirov. In 2013, a competition for the best sketch was held in the area, won by the famous artist from Kozyrevsk, Alexander Meshkov. The monument to fishermen was made in a Krasnoyarsk artistic foundry, its height is 3 meters, and the material is bronze. The project was supported by the Ust-Kamchatsky Association of Fishermen.

The right to unveil the Monument to Fishermen's Glory was granted to the honorary citizens of the Ust-Kamchatsky district, Boris Nevzorov and Gennady Shapran. The monument was consecrated by the rector of the Ust-Kamchatsky church, priest Nikolai, under the ringing of bells.

Gennady Shapran, a fisherman with 45 years of experience, noted that for him it is an honorable right to unveil the monument in honor of their fathers. The president of the Ust-Kamchatsky Association of Fishermen, Andrey Kopylov, emphasized: 'This monument is dedicated to the fishermen who have glorified, glorify, and will glorify our fishing village.'
