A monument to the outstanding Russian composer Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov has been installed on the grounds of the National Opera Theater in Cairo. This sculpture marks the beginning of the Composers' Alley, which will run along the main building of the theater in the city center.

Rimsky-Korsakov composed the symphonic orchestral suite "Scheherazade" in 1888, inspired by the Arabic tales from the collection "One Thousand and One Nights." Later, a ballet was created based on this music. This work by the composer is often included in the repertoire of the Cairo theater.

According to the head of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Cairo, the monument of the composer sitting in a chair was created by Egyptian sculptor Osama as-Sirwi and will mark the beginning of a new Composers' Alley in the Cairo Opera Park.

The sculptor, a graduate of the Repin Academy of Fine Arts and a member of the Association of Graduates of Russian (Soviet) Universities, has also created monuments to other famous Russian figures, such as Tchaikovsky and Chekhov. The project to install the monument to Rimsky-Korsakov is being implemented in collaboration with the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Egypt and the Association of Graduates.
