A monument to Seraphim of Sarov has been erected in Oryol, one of the venerated Orthodox saints and a hermit of the Russian church, hieromonk of the Holy Assumption Sarov Monastery, who is also the founder and patron of the Diveyevo women's monastery.

In 1784, Prokhor, the future Seraphim, visited Oryol as a novice of the Sarov Monastery to raise funds for the construction of a new church in his monastery. He received donations at the Epiphany Cathedral.

The monument was installed on July 26, 2016, at Epiphany Square in honor of the second discovery of the saint's relics. The sculpture depicts a slightly hunched Seraphim of Sarov standing on a large stone, facing the cathedral, with the fingers of his right hand arranged in the sign of the Trinity. The monument was created in the creative workshop 'Art Project.' The sculptor was Andrey Sledkov, and the architectural design was done by Lyudmila Soldatova. On July 28, on the Day of the Baptism of Rus, Patriarch Kirill consecrated the monument.

The funding for the creation and installation of the monument was provided by the governor of the region, Vadim Potomsky, in 2016. The monument became a kind of gift from the governor's family for the 450th anniversary of the city's founding. In honor of this event, Patriarch Kirill awarded Vadim Potomsky the Order of Seraphim of Sarov of the second degree.
