On October 13, 2016, on the eve of the feast day of the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos on Vysokoye, a bronze monument was installed near the church to the founder of the Holy Pafnuty Monastery, St. Pafnuty Borovsky, miracle worker of all Rus.

Previously, the High Intercession Borovsky Monastery was located on this site, founded in the mid-14th century. In 1414, St. Pafnuty arrived here and was placed under the guidance of St. Nikita of Serpukhov, a disciple of Sergius of Radonezh. For twenty years, St. Pafnuty was a monk of the Pokrovsky Vysokovsky Monastery, and in 1434 he became its abbot. On April 23, 1444, he left this monastery and founded a new one on the Isterma River in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos.

The sculptor Alexey Leonov, who created the monument to St. Pafnuty Borovsky, is already known to the residents of Kaluga for his works. He is the author of the sculpture of Yuri Gagarin at the Cosmonautics Museum, the composition of Tsiolkovsky and Korolev at the intersection of the streets of the same name, the monument to the holy martyr and hieromonk Kuksha of the Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery at the walls of the Trinity Cathedral, as well as the monument to St. Lawrence in Kaluga.

On February 11, 2018, Metropolitan Clement of Kaluga and Borovsk, head of the Kaluga Metropolis, consecrated the monument.
