In 1967, a monument was erected in Rostov-on-Don dedicated to the famous polar explorer, hydrographer, and naval officer Georgy Yakovlevich Sedov. The unveiling of the monument coincided with the 90th anniversary of his birth. The monument is in the form of a bust set on a pedestal made of white marble, and its author is sculptor Nikolai Avedikov. Sedov is depicted during a polar expedition, with a stern gaze and a weary face. The monument is located on a street named after Georgy Yakovlevich and is today one of the oldest monuments in the city.
