In Tarusa, on the picturesque bank of the Oka River, a monument to Konstantin Paustovsky, known as the singer of nature, has been installed in the city park. The sculpture depicts the writer in full height, standing by a fence and playing with his loyal dog named Grozny.

The monument was designed and brought to life by sculptor Vadim Tserkovnikov, a member of the Academy of Architectural Heritage. It was unveiled in 2012 in honor of the 120th anniversary of Paustovsky's birth.

The life and work of Paustovsky are inextricably linked to Tarusa, where he lived for over twenty years. He wrote: "I would not trade central Russia for the most celebrated beauties of the world. I would give all the splendor of the Bay of Naples for a willow bush wet from rain on the sandy bank of the Oka or for the winding Taruska River, where I now often and for long periods live on its modest banks."

Konstantin Georgievich Paustovsky became the first honorary citizen of Tarusa, a title bestowed upon him in 1967. According to contemporaries, almost all the residents of the city gathered for his funeral.
