One of the significant monuments in Novorossiysk is dedicated to the tragedy of the White Movement that occurred here in 1920. The sculptural composition depicts a White officer and his war horse, which he wanted to take with him on the ship but was forced to leave on the shore. This event became a true tragedy: over a hundred thousand people tried to escape through evacuation, but there were not enough places on the ships. Those who remained either tried to make their way along the shore or awaited their fate right in the port. Many Cossacks and their families were immediately killed by the Budyonovites, others jumped into the sea and swam after the ships, and some of them were rescued by the Whites. Today, few remember this tragedy, but the deceased deserve this monument.

The monument was opened on April 12, 2013, created by sculptor Suvorov and architect Izmodenov. It is located on the shore of the Tsukmes Bay, where this bloody drama unfolded a hundred years ago. The solemn opening was attended by Cossacks, descendants of the participants in those events, and admirers of the history of the White Movement.
