The monument 'Novorossiysk Republic' is located at the intersection of the street of the same name and Sovetov Street. It is an elongated stela topped with a double-headed eagle, a symbol of power. Just below are stormy petrels, heralding turbulent events.

The monument is dedicated to revolutionary events. From December 8 to 10, 1905, a People's Council operated in Novorossiysk, representing a workers' and peasants' self-government.

Soldiers and Cossacks seized strategically important objects in the city, closing all state institutions except for banks.

However, the self-government did not last long. By December 24, punitive detachments had liberated the seized objects, and on December 25, 1905, complete liberation occurred. Some participants were sentenced to death, later commuted to life imprisonment, while others were sent to hard labor.

In 1975, in honor of the 70th anniversary of this important event in Russian history, the street was renamed Novorossiysk Republic Street. On December 24, 1975, a stone was laid with the inscription: 'A monument will be erected here to the participants of the revolutionary events of 1905 who established the 'Novorossiysk Republic.'

The stela was installed decades later. The grand opening took place on December 11, 2008, with Alexander Suvorov as the author.

Opinions among residents and visitors about the monument vary. Some see it as a tribute to the rebels and convicts, while others view it as an important reminder of a significant event in the country's history.
