Nikolai Alexandrovich Panin-Kolomenkin, born in 1872 and died in 1956, was the first Olympic champion in the history of Russia and a silver medalist at the 1908 Olympic Games in figure skating. He was also a five-time champion of Russia and an Honored Master of Sports of the USSR.

Nikolai Alexandrovich Kolomenkin, known in international competitions as Nikolai Panin, was born on December 27, 1871 (January 8, 1872) in Khrenovo, Voronezh Governorate, Russian Empire, and passed away on January 19, 1956, in Leningrad, USSR. He became the Olympic champion of 1908 in the discipline of 'special figures' and a six-time champion of Russia in figure skating (1901, 1905, 1907). In addition, he was a twelve-time champion of Russia in pistol shooting (1906, 1917) and an eleven-time champion of Russia in combat revolver shooting (1907, 1917). In 1940, he was awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR. Nikolai Panin-Kolomenkin became the first Olympic champion in the history of Russia and remained the only Olympic champion from Russia until World War I.

A bust has been erected in his honor in the Olympic Park in Adler.
