Monument to Nicholas II

Фото 1
The monument to Nicholas II, the Russian tsar, was installed in the autumn of 2014 in the center of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, in the Kosovo Girl Park. This monument is dedicated to the memory of the last emperor of all Russia, Nicholas II, who lived from 1868 to 1918. The monument was gifted to the Republic of Serbia and Belgrade by the Russian Military Historical Society and the Russian Federation.

In November 2017, at the initiative of the Serbian side, the Kosovo Girl Park was ceremoniously renamed Alexander Park. This was done in memory of the members of the Alexandrov Ensemble of the Russian Army who perished in a plane crash near Sochi in December 2016.

On the sides of the monument, an excerpt from a letter by the emperor to the future King of Yugoslavia Alexander I Karađorđević, dated July 1914, is engraved in Russian and Serbian: "All my efforts will be directed towards maintaining the dignity of Serbia... Under no circumstances will Russia remain indifferent to the fate of Serbia."
