In January 2008, an unusual monument was erected in Rostov-on-Don, dedicated to people who dreamed of becoming famous artists but remained unknown for various reasons.

The monument consists of a metal chair with a cello leaning against it. One half of the instrument is solid, while the other is just an outline. The performer is absent, as this is a monument to the unknown artist, who could be any of us. According to the creators, anyone who has dreamed of fame and the stage can sit on this chair and imagine themselves as a star.

The monument was made with private funds and installed on the steps of one of Rostov's café-bars. In the evening, the composition is illuminated by a spotlight, adding to its mystery and uniqueness. It is hard to say what unknown artists feel when they see this monument; perhaps they recall their dreams or realize they are not alone in this.
