In Rostov-on-Don, the monument 'Nahalyonok and the Geese' was installed in 1980, dedicated to a character from Sholokhov's novel. It quickly became popular among residents of all ages. Nahalyonok's hand and the bronze geese are always polished to a shine, as the monument inspires a desire to take a photo pretending that a goose is nibbling at one's leg. Many locals have such pictures.

Originally, the monument was located on Pushkinskaya Street, but there were multiple attempts to steal it. In 2005, one such attempt was 'successful,' and Nahalyonok was stolen. After a successful search and recovery, the monument was moved to Universitetsky Lane. In its new location, it continues to attract the attention of both children and adults.
