In 1982, a monument to the famous character from Sholokhov's works, Nakhalenka, appeared in Rostov-on-Don. It is made of bronze and is located on the city's embankment, next to the monument of "Ded Shchukary."

The sculpture depicts a boy sitting on a woven fence. It was created by the honored artist Mozaev and architect Voloshin. The idea to erect monuments to Nakhalenka and Ded Shchukary arose in 1980, and just a year later, the projects were presented to Sholokhov, who immediately approved them. Since then, both characters from Sholokhov's novel have adorned the Rostov embankment. They seem to watch over passersby, who often take photos nearby and have a fondness for these bronze figures.
