In 1990, the bright yet short life of Viktor Tsoi, the leader of the band "Kino," tragically ended in a car accident near Riga.

Tsoi's true fame came with the song "Peremen," performed in the final scene of the cult film "Assa" in 1987. Director Sergey Solovyov recalled how he and the musician searched for a suitable filming location throughout Moscow until they found the Green Theater in Gorky Park. The director was worried about filling the six-thousand-seat hall and paying for extras, but Tsoi suggested gathering people by offering them a free concert in exchange for their participation. In the end, the required number of spectators showed up.

Fans of the band "Kino," unhappy with the long preparation for the shoot, overturned a fire truck parked nearby. However, when Tsoi took the stage, the crowd calmed down and followed his request: "Now we will give you all matches. Take three each, when I sing 'Peremen!', strike them and raise the flame up," the musician addressed them.

During the perestroika, the song "I Want Change!" took on a political undertone and became an integral part of various rallies and events.
