Monument to the Sailors of the Azov Military Flotilla

Фото 1
The monument is dedicated to the sailors of the Azov Flotilla who fought against the landing of fascist troops in the Taganrog Bay. In memory of this, a torpedo boat is installed on a pedestal near the marine port building.

The pedestal bears the inscription: "From October 1941 to July 1942, a separate Don detachment of the Azov Military Flotilla was based in Azov, defending the mouth of the Don and the coast of the Taganrog Bay. It included a division of river gunboats, a division of armored boats, coastal battery No. 661, the 40th separate artillery division, and armored train No. 10 'For the Motherland.'"

Interestingly, the boat arrived under its own power from the Caspian Sea and became a monument in 1975. The authors of the monument are G. A. Stultsev and A. T. Ivanov.

The monument is clearly visible from the Azov Fortress.
