The monument was erected in 1990 in the park opposite the K.D. Glinka Voronezh State Agrarian University. The bust and pedestal of complex shape are made of sheet bronze according to the design of Voronezh sculptor F.K. Sushkov. The monument is located in front of the main building of the university at Michurina Street, 1.

Konstantin Dmitrievich Glinka was born in 1867. In 1885, he graduated from the Smolensk Gymnasium and enrolled in the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at St. Petersburg University, where he met V.V. Dokuchaev. Under his influence, Glinka became interested in soil science and from the very beginning of his scientific career studied soils, while also engaging in mineralogical and geochemical research.

After graduating from university in 1890, Glinka remained at the Department of Mineralogy and Geology and was appointed curator of the mineralogical cabinet. In 1894, he became an assistant at the New Alexandrian Institute of Agriculture and Forestry, and in 1895 was appointed adjunct professor at the Department of Mineralogy and Geology. In 1901, after the death of Professor Sibirtsev, Glinka moved to the Department of Soil Science. He began conducting soil research under the guidance of Professor Dokuchaev, participating in expeditions in the Poltava and Voronezh provinces.

From 1913, Glinka was the director of the Voronezh Agricultural Institute, and from 1922, the Leningrad Agricultural Institute, where he also headed the Department of Soil Science. In 1927, he became the director of the Soil Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
