On August 22, 2013, a monument to the famous wrestler, two-time Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling, was unveiled in the park at the intersection of Yarygina and Krylova streets. Ivan Yarygin began his sports career in Abakan. The park and fountain next to the monument were funded by the city budget, while the 4.5-meter tall statue was made with funds from the Yarygin family.
