On July 2, 2020, a solemn opening of the monument "To the Heroes of Gorky, the Brave Workers of the Home Front" took place in the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. This event was timed to coincide with Nizhny Novgorod being awarded the honorary title "City of Labor Valor".

The author of the monument is sculptor Alexey Shchitov. The memorial was created thanks to donations from city enterprises and charitable contributions, with its fragments cast in various cities.

On a pedestal made of dark granite, a bronze sculptural composition is installed, depicting an elderly man, a woman, and a boy, symbols of those who worked on the home front during the Great Patriotic War. Behind them rises a bronze stele featuring images of the factories of Gorky against the backdrop of a flag and the inscription "To the Heroes of Gorky, the Brave Workers of the Home Front". The pedestal also features a bas-relief inscription listing the enterprises awarded between 1941-1945: Gorky Automobile Plant, "Krasnoe Sormovo" Plant, Gorky Aviation Plant named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze, "Engine of the Revolution" Plant, Gorky Machine Engineering Plant, "Krasnaya Etna" Plant, "Krasny Metallist" Plant, and Plant No. 197 of Narcomelectroprom. The area around the monument is paved with sidewalk tiles.
