One of the significant monuments in Azov is the memorial dedicated to the heroes of World War I. It was solemnly opened on July 30, 2014, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the war's beginning.

The monument has a total height of four meters. The central element of the composition is a three-meter Georgievsky cross, which symbolizes the award for the heroism of soldiers of the Russian army. In front of the cross stands a sculpture of a Cossack in a cap with a saber in hand, adorned with Georgievsky awards for lower ranks on his chest. The height of the Cossack figure is just over two meters, and it is made of bronze. The Georgievsky cross is made of bronze and brass, while the granite for the pedestal was delivered from Karelia and Ukraine. The monument is located near the cultural center, and its author is sculptor Usayev.
