The monument to the heroes of 1812 is an impressive military memorial dedicated to the memory of the soldiers and officers of the Russian army who fell in the Battle of Maloyaroslavets. It is located in the center of Maloyaroslavets and is considered one of the main attractions of the city.

This complex sculptural composition was created by the renowned sculptor Vasily Russo. The monument is set on a small hill, accessible by steps. A massive concrete pedestal supports a snow-white rock topped with an Orthodox cross. Surrounding the rock are three cannons from the 19th century and a bronze statue of a soldier laying a wreath. The soldier is dressed in the uniform with insignia of the Polotsk Infantry Regiment. Memorial plaques with long lists of the fallen are also affixed to the rock.
