In 2010, a second monument to the first astronaut Yuri Gagarin was installed in Rostov-on-Don. The opening of the monument was timed to the 50th anniversary of the first flight into space. The monument is located on Korolev Avenue, and its author is sculptor Alexey Leonov.

The sculpture is a three-meter tall full-length depiction of Gagarin, set on a pedestal. This monument was gifted to the city and became the second in honor of Yuri Gagarin in Rostov-on-Don. The first monument, designed as a bust, was unveiled in 1977.
