In the center of Tallinn, in Kanuti Park, near the Russian Cultural Center, a monument dedicated to the great Russian writer Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky has been installed.

It is known that in his youth, Dostoevsky often visited Revel, where his older brother Mikhail lived. This period of the writer's life is reflected in his works. For example, it is believed that the image of the Grand Inquisitor in the novel "The Brothers Karamazov" was inspired by Pastor von Huun, whom Dostoevsky met in Revel.

The Dostoevsky monument in Tallinn was unveiled in 2002. It was gifted to the capital of Estonia by the government of Moscow, as indicated by the inscription on the tall granite pedestal. The project was created by Russian sculptor Valery Evdokimov. The installation of the monument was initiated by the Society of Slavic Cultures.

The location for the monument was chosen deliberately. Firstly, it is situated near the Russian Cultural Center. Secondly, Kanuti Park, which was part of the Engineering Garden during the imperial era, was often mentioned by Dostoevsky in his letters to his brother Mikhail. Thus, this place is the most suitable for commemorating the great Russian writer in Tallinn.
