Monument to F.M. Dostoevsky in Kharkiv

Фото 1
The sculpture of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky, the outstanding Russian writer and thinker, is located in the famous Kharkiv Sculpture Garden, right in the courtyard of the "Hermitage" restaurant. The idea of creating the garden belongs to the restaurant owner, Vladimir Chepel. The first monuments appeared here in the autumn of 2011, and in 2013, the collection was decided to be expanded with new sculptures. At that time, figures of Leo Tolstoy, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Pyotr Stolypin, and Vasily Shukshin were installed here. Since then, the exhibition has been constantly replenished with new works.

The sculpture of Dostoevsky harmoniously fits with the architecture of the garden. It is made of bronze and depicts the writer in full height, dressed in an open coat, with his hands in his pockets. His thoughtful gaze is directed into the unknown, as if he is pondering over another mystical work.

Although the sculpture of Dostoevsky was installed after the garden's opening, it has successfully integrated into the overall ensemble. Now visitors can come to the Sculpture Garden, stand next to their favorite writer, or touch his bronze hand for good luck.
