The sculpture of Fyodor Shcherbina was installed in the Friendship of Peoples square at the intersection of Mira and Rashpilevskaya streets. The monument was created by the well-known duo of sculptors Valery Pchelin and Alan Kornaev, along with the chief architect of Krasnodar Krai, Yuri Rysin. Fyodor Shcherbina is renowned as the founder of Russian budget statistics.

The monument consists of two main elements: a bronze figure of the historian and a gray granite stele. Shcherbina, full of energy, is dressed in civilian clothes, as he did not wear the traditional Cossack uniform. With a book under his arm, he confidently strides towards the city from the stone stele, against which the regalia of the Kuban Cossack army, flags, and cannonballs are leaned. The height of the stele is about three meters, while the figure is shorter. The pedestal is low, only about twenty centimeters, creating the impression that the historian walks alongside the residents in the square.

Fyodor Andreyevich Shcherbina is a significant figure in the history of Krasnodar and Kuban. He was born in 1849 in the village of Novoderevyankovskaya in Kuban. In his maturity, Shcherbina studied the life of the Kuban Cossacks, their social and economic structures. He was an outstanding historian, ethnographer, statistician, public and political figure, and educator. Shcherbina headed the Cossack faction in the second State Duma of Russia and participated in the work of the Kuban regional and legislative council. He wrote dozens of books and published several works on the history of land communities and self-governance of the Kuban Cossacks. His fundamental work "History of the Kuban Cossack Army" was published in Yekaterinodar in two volumes in 1910 and 1913. In early 1920, Shcherbina participated in the export of Kuban regalia abroad, which helped preserve them. After the revolution, he was forced to emigrate.

The historian passed away and was buried in Prague in 1936, although he bequeathed to rest on Kuban soil. Negotiations for the return of F.A. Shcherbina's remains lasted several years, and only in 2008 was his ashes returned for reburial in the courtyard of the Holy Trinity Church in Krasnodar.
